Regulators is a story about my home town, Hillsborough, North Carolina. The War of Regulation took place here and in the surrounding rural areas. Some historians consider the Battle of Alamance to be the first battle of the American Revolution, though I tend to think of them as separate (but related) events. The setting for this story was inspired by places I walk past every day, as well as a 2025 tour of Tryon's Palace in New Bern, North Carolina.
