About
Blackbeard is a historical biopic about the infamous pirate Edward Teach. The story follows his historically documented adventures from 1717 to 1718 from the Caribbean to the Carolinas. This is a darker anti-hero story rather than the usual pirate tale. It leans into the gritty and realistic side of piracy in the 18th century. It delves into Teach's mind and his transformation into the most infamous pirate in history.
This story is a deeply personal one for me. Many of these scenes happen in places I've been to. I was born in Virginia, just down river from Blackbeard's point. I live in North Carolina now, and have grown up hearing the stories of Blackbeard's time here. I've walked the riverfront where Blackbeard called home in Bath, North Carolina. I've sailed through Charleston harbor. I've swam in Nassau harbor. I've touched the ballast stones of Queen Anne's Revenge and visited her resting place in Beaufort, North Carolina. All this is to say that this is a story I love, that I hope to share with the world.
Comps include MASTER & COMMANDER, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, and BLACK SAILS.
